Camping and picnic fires
Comfort and cooking fires are permitted within designated fire pits from 1 May – 31 October each year. All camp and picnic sites have a firepit.
Bookings are required for the day use of campsites during the camping season. Bookings are not required to use fire pits at picnic sites.
We do not supply firewood, so please bring your own. Fires must not be left unattended. All fires must be fully extinguished before departure.
Firewood collection
Collection of firewood from the forest is prohibited. Under the Forestry Act 1950 and associated Regulations, it is an offence to remove any vegetation, live or dead, from ForestrySA land.
We ask that all forest visitors wishing to use a fire pit within our campgrounds or picnic areas please bring their own firewood.
Barbeques and fuel stoves
Gas fires including barbeques and fuel stoves can used from 1 April to 30 November each year. These cooking appliances must be used in designated campsites or picnic sites only.
All fires including wood, gas and fuel fires are prohibited from 1 December to 31 March.
The forest is closed to the public on declared Total Fire Ban days. To report a fire, call 000.

Fire is prohibited on ForestrySA land and Forest Reserves between November 1 and April 30 in any year. (These dates may be extended in areas where high fire danger persists).
