Our Kuitpo and Mount Crawford Forests are home to a range of orienteering courses. Each course is managed by Orienteering SA and available for general public use, free of charge.
Kuitpo Forest
- Christmas Hill – easy and moderate
- The Eucalypts (Rocky Creek) – easy and moderate
- Kuitpo Forest Headquarters – easy, moderate and scatter courses
- Woodcutter’s Cottage – scatter course (Restricted use: Only available to groups which have booked at Woodcutter’s Cottage or Tinjella Hut.)
Mount Crawford Forest
- Chalks – easy, moderate and scatter courses
- Fox Creek, Thomas Hill – Currently CLOSED.

Hard copies are also available at our Kuitpo and Mount Crawford Forest Information Centres, which are open 10am – 12pm Friday, Saturday and Sunday (subject to ranger availability).
Your safety is important to us.
Areas of the forest may be closed or restricted at times for operations such as harvesting, pest control and prescribed or residue burning. Please adhere to all signage throughout the forest to ensure your safety and the safety of others.

Our forests are closed each night between dusk and dawn. Activities requiring night access require ranger approval using an Event Application.
Events and group activities
Orienteering community events and competitions require submission of an Event Application for approval by our ranger team.
All groups including schools must notify us of intended visits to use orienteering courses by submitting an Activity Registration. By notifying us of your planned group activity we can ensure your visit to the forest is a safe and enjoyable one.
The forest is closed to the public on declared Total Fire Ban days. To report a fire, call 000.

Fire is prohibited on ForestrySA land between November 1 and April 30 in any year. (These dates may be extended in areas where high fire danger persists).
