Vehicle access
Our forests are very popular for walkers, runners, horse riders, bike riders, orienteering, picnicking and dog walking on fire breaks and vehicle tracks. Our fire breaks must also be maintained to a high standard for emergency services. For these reasons, vehicle access into forest reserves is not permitted.
Vehicle access for special events and activities may be obtained by submitting an Event Application to our Ranger team for approval.
Disability access
To ensure everyone has an equal opportunity to enjoy our forests, our ranger team can facilitate access into specific areas for visitors requiring disability access. Our ranger team can also provide information on the best places to visit for accessible walking and bike riding trails.
Accessible toilets
We have accessible toilets in the following locations:
- Mount Crawford Forest – Rocky Paddock Campground and Chalks Campground
- Kuitpo Forest – Kuitpo Information Centre and Chookarloo Campground
- Second Valley Forest – Ingalalla Falls
- Fox Creek Bike Park Hub (upper carpark)
Accessible trails
Second Valley Forest
We provide the opportunity for people living with a disability to participate in and benefit from nature-based recreation with their families, carers, and peers. Trailrider wheelchairs are available for hire from the District Council of Yankalilla to access three of our accessible walking trails in Second Valley Forest.

Walkers, runners, and bike riders
General public access to our forest for low-impact activities such as use of orienteering courses, walking, picnicking, running, and bike riding is free.
Pedestrian gates and step overs are installed throughout our forests to provide multiple access points for all users. Please shut pedestrian gates behind you and be courteous to other users.
Carparking
Carparking is provided within campgrounds, picnic areas, information centres and popular sites. Please ensure you park your vehicle in a manner that provides room for others and NEVER park in front of an access gate. Gates are essential for emergency access. Parking in a manner which prevents access to forest reserves for ForestrySA personnel and emergency services is an offence under the Forestry Act 1950 and associated regulations.
The forest is closed to the public on declared Total Fire Ban days. To report a fire, call 000.

Fire is prohibited on ForestrySA land between November 1 and April 30 in any year. (These dates may be extended in areas where high fire danger persists).
